  9.  AB    OBJECTIVE: To discuss new strategies of outreach interventio in gay bars
  10.        and night clubs, as part of a project on AIDS prevention for MWM. (Men
  11.        who have sex with men). METHODS: To make an analysis of the data
  12.        collected at the weekly outreach interventions in gays night clubs and
  13.        bars. The number of people that look for the informative material, the
  14.        number of registrations and the attendance at the safe sex workshops.
  15.        RESULTS: The level of interest demonstrated towards the informative
  16.        material and the activities of this project is low, in spite of the good
  17.        quality of the material distributed and the effort to give it out.
  18.        DISCUSSION: The data suggest that the prevention speech faces a great
  19.        deal of rejection among the homosexual men. The outreach intervention
  20.        should avoid this model in order to reach a more attrative grupal
  21.        language. New strategies are suggested aiming to lower the impact that
  22.        AIDS presents and to create a more effective way of insertion in the gay
  23.        community.
